My boyfriend just moved into my apt. We haven’t discussed splitting the bill’s as it’s a very recent move. I’ve lived at my apt for just over a year and have been totally self sufficient. The situation as such is, he has 2 job’s and makes more than I do at both. As far as bills go, he’s responsible for paying the cable bill since he wanted to upgrade and I was fine with basic t.v. He moved into my place because I felt more comfortable in my space. Also if thing’s don’t work out, I don’t have to try and find another place to live that is affordable to me He can afford a bit more rent. I’m also concerned about a past relationship I had where I was the "breadwinner" and he was in school. That went south and I had to carry a huge rent and cost of living myself and I just don’t want that to happen again. I don’t want to seem petty but just want to protect myself and my financial future. So basically why should someone live with me rent and utilities and food for free but tactfully bring it up and when?
