Question by : Is 600$ labor a fair price to install 3 solar powered roof fans on a cape code style home with a steep roof.?
bout this house in the winter and ready to move by the summer, the 2nd floor is unbearable due to the heat. After moving in I notice the house didn’t have any ventilation in the roof. Had roofer come out today and he quoted 600$ if I bout the fans.

Best answer:

Answer by elhigh
bout = a brief fight or conflict
bought = past tense of buy

$ 600 sounds a little steep to me, but then again you say the roof is steep too. That makes the job more difficult, more dangerous. Considering he has to carry insurance and see that the job is done safely, not to mention be sure it’s done well enough he doesn’t get a call someday saying there’s rain coming in around the fans, $ 600 might not be too bad.

Read up on the fans. How confident do you feel doing the job yourself? Is $ 600 too much to assuage your doubts as to whether you can start, finish and be certain the job is done correctly? If it’s too much, it’s too much – but then you’re on the hook for doing it.

full new roof job in april. 30 years shingles.Reputable roofers.3 months later, went on roof and few shingles were completely separating, flopping in breeze, but also all layers of shingle were separated, so you could see all the (what should be laminated into a shingle) but was now multiple layers of fabric and “stuff”. Rest of roof looked “worn”. like the chips were worn away as if MANY years old, except under the side where the trees are. I called the roofer. He came out. WOW. He said it was very strange, he’d never seen anything like it, and made an appt for the manufacture rep to come out. THAT guy got on the roof, noticed at once that the chips were worn away and asked if I’d been having “alot of traffic” on the roof! When he got around to seeing the flopping shingles, he said they needed to be nailed down better. After insisting he actually go near the shingles, he saw they were completely deteriorated & said he would check into it. I gave him the lot # from a bag I had kept from the job site. After not hearing back from either guy for weeks, I tracked the roofer down & was told the rep said that the 2 bad shingles were the only bad shingles in the lot, and that he’d told the roofer to simply replace them and the rep would pay for it. That was a month ago, not a peep from anyone, and I don’t feel too confident that a 30 year roof that lasts 3 months, and is already worn away (except the part that gets no exposure to any sun or elements) is going to be just fine.. and that there were only 2 bad shingles in the lot. The rep blamed ME for “heavy traffic” and the roofer for not nailing properly, before he ever looked at the shingles. So, Who will come look at the shingles and be able to decide who handles this??? I think it’s a materials issue, but the materials place doesn’t answer to the registrar of contractors and the company treated me like garbage when I called them. I want to put solar panels up before the end of the year but definitely don’t want to put them on top of faulty shingles! HELP!!! please!
they’re GAF. I might feel better about them if the guy hadn’t started tossing out disclaimers and accusations before he saw the problem. When I called the company, they asked who had come out to check, when I told them, they said they had nobody by that name. They said he would’ve taken a swatch of the shingle to send to them(which he didn’t). I assured them he had a business card for them and he DIDN’t take a swatch. The lady was adamant he didn’t work for them. My roofer seems he does, as my roofer used to work for GAF. Like I said though, these shingles are totally”dis-layered” (I know that’s not a word) and the rest of the roof truly looks like a 5-6 year old roof.. except under the trees where it looks brand new.

Best answer:

Answer by skaz915
Yes the shingles were nailed down properly from what it sounds like. 4-6 nails per shingle. It seems as if the shingles didn’t seal properly. Happens more than I’d like it to. Happens with old shingles that were stored in the sun too long and sealed together in the package and had to be ripped apart to be installed. Just out if curiosity what brand of shingles where they. i can tell you if they were IKO, the shingles are complete garbage. Elk GAF Owens Corning & certainteed are the only brand shingle I will put on a customers house.

A painter must be organized before he paints or he will end up losing time, just as a handyman should have a workbench ready. According to what you are looking for, you might want to get a kit for a workbench or make it on your own.

Pre-assembled benches could possibly be very expensive so it may be worth the time to design and create your own. After the bench is constructed, it will likely be a nice fit for your basement, workshop, or garage. Spend some time to design a workbench that is going to fit your personal style and make life more efficient when working. What amount of room do you need for your tools or is it something you will only work on? The kind of wood you use is important, and the level of detail that should be taken care of. A solid but light in weight wood is birch, and on the other hand is beech which is a very common wood for benches.

Just how much space it is possible to set aside for the bench dictates how big it should be. Workbenches often stay in a single place over time so choose very carefully where it could go. An excellent resource for plans is at home improvement stores or online websites catering to the handyman. Carefully presented instructions with specific pictures and drawings can help you tremendously when constructing the bench. If you’re going to go to this much effort, you might as well get a complete kit, and just put all of the pieces together. Everything else that needs to be bought will frequently also be on a parts list for the kits.

Making your own personal bench from the beginning is something that only a professional should attempt to do. Not everybody is good at home improvement and it is a completely viable option to buy an already made workbench. Typically the reason for building something by yourself is to save money, but quite often it ends up costing more in the long-run for those who have no idea what they are doing. Hiring another person for the job is another option, especially if you already have the materials.

Work gloves, safety specs and other safeguards are necessary when deciding to complete the job yourself. As soon as you have the task completed, you will enjoy having a place to put all of your tools, keeping them well-organized. There is nothing like doing a job, and doing it well, when it is something that you have wanted to do for a long time, and that is a labor of love.

If you are frustrated with 3redlightfix, then you may not know about this highly effective approach to 3redlightfix, yet. Here is how to conquer the hardships caused by chest coach system review, today.

This allows you to be creative and express yourself within the home that you will more than likely spend the majority of your time. Your house will not only look good, but its value will be higher after the work is complete. Depending upon how much you have to spend, you can work wonders in a small amount of time.

Some painting jobs might be too hard and you may need to hire a professional to get the job done. Take some time before you paint the interior of your home to plot out a course of action. The climate and the time of year that you were going to paint are important parts of your planning.

Some painting jobs might be too hard and you may need to hire a professional to get the job done. There are a number of things to think about if you want to start painting your home interior. Always write out what variables will be involved as you begin to paint so that you are ready for changes as they come.

Basements that have been remodeled are one of the most favorite places in the house. Your basement gains a cozy and comfortable feel when it is finished. A finished basement is ideal for a home theater or as an entertainment area. You need to make sure there are no major cracks in your basement walls before you begin covering them. If you find any cracks, you should have an experienced house inspector take a look. Having cracks in the basement walls can lead to complications down the road.

Home improvement projects can be dangerous, be very careful no matter what the job is. If you are using any type of blade or rotating saw, make sure you wear the proper safety equipment. And finally, always pay attention to the exterior of your home before you buy any type of plant or bush for landscaping.

Obviously, individuals usually do do it yourself projects which will make their homes look better. Nevertheless, you need to remember to perform the fundamentals. For instance, failure to clean your air ducts can result in illness, as unsafe allergens can be distributed throughout your home. Please clean all of them soon if you haven’t done this.

Very easily conserve cash and keep your residence clean with air duct cleaning equipment. Find out the easy approach when you check out the fantastic air duct cleaning equipment site quickly.

Answer by Tamica Weinreb
If I told you how easy it is to get a job in this recession, you wouldn’t believe me. But the truth is more employers are going online to find people just like you and me who are ready to work at a good job (one that pays good!). The only thing that makes sense is to stop wasting time driving around all day filling out a dozen applications and going from one boring low paying job to another. I found this site that pretty much matches you up with your dream job that is available in your city right now. I have found it very helpful. Go to FindMeJobNow.com

I have been offered a landscaping job but have never participated in a project of this size. Anyone know if there is an average price per hour that most landscapers will charge? How can I determine how much I should charge if I want to be fair, but of course, be able to get reimbursed for the work? The job consists of pulling out and clearing some existing garden areas, replanting new plants, flowers etc and then mulching the existing areas around new plants.
I am charging $ 20 per hour plus client pays for materials and I will provide reciepts. Is this is in the ballpark?

Best answer:

Answer by fluffernut
Consider your cost just to go to the job site prepared to work: transportation to and from and to get the plants, tools, gas, work time, shopping time, disposal of trash, insurance, plus materials (which is about the only thing you can really get a handle on.)

Sit down and honestly figure your time working, gathering material and installation. Don’t consider anything less than $ 15 per hour and even that’s a bare bones price.

I’m thinking about getting a part-time job as a server at a chain restaurant (Applebee’s, Ruby Tuesday’s, Olive Garden, etc.) and have a few questions for people who have been servers or are servers:

1) On average, how many tables are you serving at one time? 3? 4? 5? I’m a little worried that I might get overloaded early on and be asked to wait on 5 tables, which is too much IMO.

2) How long is your average work shift? Does it vary depending on whether you are doing an afternoon or night shift?

3) On average, how much do you bring home in tips per shift? How much does it vary depending on the time of the shift (whether it is day/night or week/weekend)?

I’ve never been a sever before, so I was just curious about these issues and anything else you think I should know.

Thanks for the help in advance!
