Answer by pelican
Ask in the Books and Authors category under Arts and Humanities and someone there might recognize it. If that fails, go to a large bookstore and check the gardening section and you will probably find it there.

So many people just decide to get started because their so eager and even though action is good they don’t think about and so they end up missing some key elements that every chicken coops need.

1. Your Dream Flock: Its always a good idea to know which types of chickens you are going to have in your dream flock before you even get started on the coop. The reason for this is because how much chickens vary in size. Also some chickens cant stand cold weather nearly as well as others can. Plus how high your chickens will be able to fly should be a factor in your coop as well.

2. The More The Merrier: The second step you have to take before getting started on your chicken coop is to know how many chickens you want. The more chickens you have the bigger your chicken coop will have to be (obviously). If you plan to sell the eggs then 30 or so is a good number if you just want to support your own egg eating life style then 3 should be enough.

3. Weather And Temperature: Local weather and climate should be a big influence on not only your coop but your flock as well. If you live somewhere colder then get bigger chickens also you could install insulation or heat lamp. If it rains a lot then put the coop away from areas where puddles form such as on higher elevation. The local weather should also be a factor on what kind of materials you use.

4. House On Wheels? After you have finished checking the weather channel its time to make the next big decision about your chicken coop. Do you want it permanent or portable? The idea of a coop on wheels is appealing to a lot of people. But you should keep in mind the fact that portable chicken coops aren’t as good at protecting against predators and usually cant keep a big flock.

5. The Price Is Right The last step is to find out how much you can spend on your chicken coop. Some of you don’t have to worry to go down to the hardware store and buy some of their best materials. But be warned right now don’t ever buy treated wood. Of course a lot of people have a tighter budget if this is the case don’t feel bad asking your neighbors if they have some useless wood laying around you might be surprised.
