I have an old aquarium, and I was wondering if I could use it to grow rose hips. Would the light be enough, I have pretty harsh winters, and I want to grow them inside at first. Would this work???

No, you can’t. Roses need full sun. And they get too big for an aquarium. The hips are what grows after the flowers are finished. I don’t think you would ever get that far.

none. The house plants need oxygen not water. they will actually suffocate, die and simply destroy the water and the way the aquarium looks.

Well, it should take if you just plant it in the sand, or between rocks. If you want to put it in a refugium, you can do that too, if it’s illuminated, and the roots should take pretty quickly.
I have found that exposure to less light during the first few days of acclimation is better for the plant.

How can I convert aquariums into indoor gardens?

I have 2 decent size aquariums (35 and 50 gallon) collecting dust in my basement and I was hoping to put them to good use as indoor gardens in my kitchen. I am looking to grow some basic veggies and herbs to be used for fresh eating and in cooking, organic preferred. However, I haven’t a clue how to use them as indoor gardens and am especially concerned about drainage. Also I do not receive adequate light in my home and would need to rely on artificial light.

I am having trouble finding actual how to guides with instructions on starting an indoor garden using an aquarium. Is this just a silly idea or a actual possibility? All help is greatly appreciated.

Im in a boarding school, thus, i am pretty lazy. i want to know if i can have a self-sufficient aquarium, so me and my roommate dont have to do to much matienence, other than feeding. we were thinking bottom crawlers. freshwater and coldwater ten gallon tanks. also living plant life.

any suggestions?

Pesticide foggers and effects on aquarium supplies and surfaces?

Howdy all.

I have a 100 gal reef tank. In my garage I am having problems with black widows. I have many aquarium supplies housed in the garage. My concern on using the fogger is the residue it might(?) leave on everything in there. I would obviously remove all the aquarium supplies, but my concern is if i go grab something from the garage, and i’m in there frequently, would a residue be all over everything that could affect my tank if my next action was to put my hand in the tank? I have thus far opted out of using the foggers. I do not honestly like to use any toxic chemicals with or without a aquarium. I have been using an organic pesticide to spay the spiders I can find. My only concern is that they are black widows, and I have heard they cause one of the most painful invenomations of any venomous being. Any help or inforamtion would be greatly appreciated.
