I want to creat a small garden out side but i do not have a lot of room. i was looking for ideas but nothing has pictures of small gardens to get ideas from. can anyone help

I need ideas also. My whole apartment is blah beige walls and ceilings, and light blah brown carpets and flooring. I’m going to Google/Yahoo search “apartment interior decorating ideas”. Have you tried that? (My car is metallic blah beige also, with a blah light brown interior.)

Update: I got ten hits on a Yahoo search. Haven’t explored them yet.

My family and I are sick of eating processed crap that has preservitives sprinkled on everything! So we wondering how you can grow a garden on a balcony or can you even do that? What plants grow better in pots. What kind of planting pots are available for this kind of venture? In this horrid economy iv found that its much cheaper and healthier to grow your own food and eat! So please any green thumbed people help me out here. I live in an upstairs apartment, but it has a nice size balcony that i never use. Thanx in advance.
we dont have a community garden in my town. U cant name atleast 1 thing i can grow on my balcony????

You can grow plants there for fun. If you are serious, you need a big garden. Most comunities have a comunity garden area somewhere like in some parks, etc. This is becoming more and more popular.

Question by Blair M: I want to start an indoor garden (with artificial lighting) in my living room, where should I start?
I have nothing to go on, and this little project is open-ended seeing as I’ve never really grown anything before now. I don’t know where to find a rack to sit the plants on that I can hang a light from, so I really don’t know where to even start.

I don’t really know what plants to start with either. I want something aromatic and aesthetically pleasing, and seeing as I’d like to try out more than one kind of plant (maybe not all at once if it would be too much) I wouldn’t require all of the plants to have both qualities. Herbs are a good idea too, having some fresh herbs in my kitchen wouldn’t be a bad idea.

All in all, I don’t know where to begin. I’d like something that will look nice with the room, but being a college student, I’m on a tight budget. I can’t afford to blow hundreds on this side hobby, but I just thought it would add some life into my apartment and add some fresh air, as well as just being something new to try out.

Any ideas?
I guess I forgot to mention that I live in a second story apartment. I have nowhere to garden if I had the chance. My windows are all along the staircase and anything in front of them would block the entrance. My only option is indoor with artificial light, sadly. If I had the option I would much rather have a garden outside.

Don’t people still grow plants in windowsills, or am I the only one? This is going to a lot of needless trouble and expense to just have some houseplants. Sunlight is free, and it’s already here. Many plants can be grown from cuttings, so even the plants can be free, except for the cost of a pot and some potting soil. That’s the way I like to garden.
