This tree is about 35 years old and where the sprouts have been growing there are big nobs formed from triming them off each spring. These nobs send out several water sprout vertical branches each year. I thought of sawing them off flush with the branch but I’m afraid it will kill the branch since their are so many. I have done it on a few smaller ones and the tree healed the wounds and now no water sprouts grow there. Any suggestions of what I can do to get rid of all of them for good?
