regular mowing should do it, trees cant tolerate being repeatedly cut like grass can. you can also try a fertilizer with weeding chemicals - (Scotts weed & feed or the like). Follow instructions, it may require you to water the lawn prior to application so it will stick to the sprouts etc.

it sounds like you have the dreaded robinia pseudoacasia problem.they sprout up everywhere even twenty or more metres from the original place of the tree. give a dose of round upto the spritely popups.eventually it will get rid of them.

"Nature abhors a vacuum"

If you don't plant something in it, nature will. You can pull them, poison them, hoe them down, or smother them. Ten layers of newspaper, and another layer of mulch or compost, will smother most weeds. (not all, but many)

Hoe them out or smother them. Don't leave it unplanted, or more weeds will show up.

EEW, rubber gloves are awful. I wear those loose fitting food service gloves under my cloth gardening gloves. I get them at a local food service supplier, a box lasts me for at least a year and I think the last box was about $5.

If I pull a few weeds without gloves, I have a hand cleaner called Cherry Bomb, it is a little bit gritty to take the dirt and stains out. If you can't find that, a little St. Ive's scrub (in your local department stores Health and Beauty Aids section) should do quite nicely.

Happy gardening!

Just get the rubber finger guards. Some money counters at the bank have them. They are like surgical gloves without the palms
